How address checking works

When a customer picks delivery, their address goes through a check before the order can be placed — so mistakes get caught at checkout, not at dispatch.
- The street address is verified and located on the map, which also cleans up typos and confirms the real ZIP code. (If the mapping service is briefly unavailable, the check falls back to matching the ZIP alone so orders can still go through — the street just isn't map-verified in that window.)
- That ZIP is matched against your active zones. In a zone → the order proceeds with that zone's delivery fee. Not in a zone → the customer is told delivery isn't available there, before any food gets made.
- Running multiple locations? The zones decide which location serves the order. If two locations both cover the same ZIP, the order routes to one of them consistently (not necessarily the nearest) — so avoid overlapping the same ZIP across locations unless you're fine with either kitchen taking it.
Note: Customers just outside your zones aren't lost — they can still order pickup. Watch for repeated pickup orders from a nearby ZIP; that's your data telling you where to expand the delivery range.
