Edit an order after it's placed
Updated July 4, 2026
Customer called to add a drink or fix their address? Open the order in the Manage tab and edit it — items, quantities, modifiers, pickup-vs-delivery, and the delivery address are all changeable until the order is completed or cancelled.
When the total changes
- Total goes down (removed an item): the overpayment is handled through the order's refund-overpayment action, which refunds against the original tenders. For a card order that returns money to the card; for a cash or split order it tells you how much cash to hand back at the register.
- Total goes up (added an item): the difference is tracked on the order as a balance due. After you save, collect it right there with the settle controls — take cash or run a card — or collect it in person at handoff. (The emailed Payment request link is for orders that were never paid; it isn't the tool for collecting the delta on an already-paid order.)
Heads up: An order with an outstanding balance due can't be fully refunded until the balance is collected or the order is edited back down — settle the money first, then refund if needed.
